Stokenchurch

In 2023 we were very proud to open our latest branch, a fully equipped hospital in Stokenchurch. This purpose-built facility has exceptional equipment and we are able to offer a very high level of expertise and experience to treat more complex cases. We are not a specialist-led referral centre but we are able to offer very advanced treatments and procedures which are not often available from first-opinion vets, often at a considerably lower price than a specialist centre would charge.

Excellence for your pet

We treat our own clients’ pets and also often take referrals from other vets in the surrounding area. We have excellent relations with the surrounding specialist centres and it may be that we recommend that some patients are best referred on to one of these instead of being treated by us.

We have designed and equipped the hospital to be able to offer comprehensive care. Most investigations and procedures and can be performed on site and if your pet need to stay in for intensive, overnight treatment then they can be looked after by our own vets and nursing team.

Orthopaedics

Our experienced orthopaedic team is led by Dr James Copland who has an Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. We offer Slocum TPLO surgery for dogs with cruciate disease for considerably less expense than most centres and we are happy to take referrals from other practices. We are also able to fix fractures, perform arthroscopy (putting a tiny camera into a joint), treat patella problems, investigate and treat elbow dysplasia, and a range of other orthopaedic conditions, all out of our Stokenchurch hospital.

Dentistry

Dr Kezia Eves, one of the partners here at Temple End, holds a post-graduate certificate in small animal dentistry and she runs our dental service from the state-of-the-art dental suite we have within the hospital. We are very proud of the exceptionally high standard of dentistry we perform at Temple End. Kezia is able to offer all of the usual dental procedures that most vets can provide but in addition can perform advanced procedures such as Root Canal Treatment, Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) and Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT).

Cardiology

Nicky Thomas leads our cardiology service at the Stokenchurch hospital. She has years of experience in this area and holds a post-graduate certificate in cardiology. Our ultrasound imaging equipment is second to none and Nicky is able to diagnose and treat most cardiac conditions and will be happy to advise on all the treatment options. Ophthalmology

Emily Magny is in charge of the ophthalmology service at Temple End. She holds an ophthalmology certificate and has years of experience with eye cases. She takes internal referrals from the other vets within the practice and is particularly interested in the healing of corneal injuries, lens problems and eyelid corrective surgeries. We have a close relationship with a ophthalmology specialist who can be brought in to perform more advanced procedures such as cataract surgery and laser treatment of glaucoma.

Exotic pets

Thomas Donald sees most of the exotic pets in the practice. He is studying for his post-graduate certificate in exotic medicine and has built up a fantastic local reputation and large client following. He loves seeing reptiles, birds and ‘small furry’ pets and has a wealth of knowledge and experience with treating the more unusual species. At the Stokenchurch hospital he can use the advanced equipment and facilities to diagnose and treat their problems and we have a dedicated exotic ward with vivariums, heat lamps and UV lamps to provide for their specialised needs.

Soft tissue surgery

We have three vets who are surgery certificate holders at Temple End with another two vets studying for their certificates. We offer a full range of soft tissue procedures and have a great depth of experience. Our operating suites provide exceptional facilities and our nursing team is second to none in terms of their experience, qualifications and level of care.

Keyhole surgery and laparoscopic spays

Temple End is able to perform a range of keyhole surgeries but the most common of these is the spaying of dogs (‘lap spays’). Conventionally, we would neuter female dogs by removing their ovaries through an incision made in the middle of their abdomen. A lap spay involves making much smaller holes to introduce a tiny camera into their abdomens so we can see the ovaries and then using tiny surgical instruments to remove them. We use a two-port technique to minimise surgical intervention. These patients recover more quickly and have less surgical scarring than those spayed conventionally.
